1 Installation of Glass Wool Board
1.1 Glass Wool Board Layout Requirements: The glass wool boards should be laid in a full sheet format (dimensions: 1200X600 mm), starting from the bottom and horizontally staggered by half the board length. Vertically, they should be offset to ensure that the corners remain straight and aligned. At the internal and external angles, the glass wool boards must interlock properly. At door and window openings, the boards should not be spliced but instead cut as a single piece to maintain structural integrity. The surface of the board should be perpendicular after cutting. Corner areas of the wall should be covered with an insulation board of at least 300 mm in width.
1.2 Before installation, the glass wool boards should be measured and cut according to the calculated size. The trimming edge should have a straight line error of less than 5 mm.
1.3 The laying of the glass wool board should proceed from top to bottom, in a systematic order. When encountering door and window openings, it should follow the requirements specified in the relevant construction details.
2 Anchoring and Surface Treatment
2.1 Anchoring: The anchor plate should be embedded into the insulation board to a depth of at least 30 mm. Use Φ8X120mm or Φ8X100mm anchoring screws, and drill holes on the outer wall with a diameter of 10 mm using an electric hammer. The hole depth should be between 120-140 mm, including the thickness of the insulation board. After installing the plastic expansion bolt, ensure it is securely fastened so that the glass wool board tightly adheres to the outer wall. Once tightened, the anchor point should be 1–2 mm below the surface of the board. Anchor points should be placed at the four corners of the glass wool board and in the middle of horizontal joints.
2.2 The spacing for the anchor bolts should be 600 mm vertically and 600 mm horizontally, arranged in a plum blossom pattern. At the corners of the base wall, the spacing should be reduced to 300 mm. All arrangements must meet design specifications and relevant standards.
3 Special Part Handling
3.1 When dealing with door and window openings, the length should be determined based on the wall section. It is essential to strictly control the thickness and width of the glass wool board to ensure a consistent and tight joint. Corners should be properly lapped and overlapped. The apparent density of the glass wool board must meet the design requirements. The surface of the board should not be exposed for long periods. Once installed, it should be promptly covered with stone cladding to protect the insulation layer.
