However, there are some challenges associated with this technology. For example, if the LED is powered by a battery, signal reception may be limited to short distances. Moreover, strong sunlight can interfere with the signal, potentially degrading performance when used outdoors. In such cases, the transmission speed drops significantly—only around 20 megabits per second beyond a 20-meter range. Another important limitation is that visible light communication requires a clear line of sight. Unlike radio waves, light cannot pass through walls, which means users must be within the direct path of the LED light. However, by coordinating multiple LED lights in a room, it's still possible for users to receive signals from any corner of the space. Despite these challenges, the research team remains optimistic. They believe that future developments could introduce infrared LED lights, which are not visible to the human eye, making the technology more discreet and user-friendly. While the idea of having a glowing light on your head might seem unusual, the potential of this technology is undeniable. As we continue to explore new ways to connect and communicate, using light as a medium for data transfer could open up exciting possibilities for the future of networking.
