Katarina Ivarsson and Anna Karlsson value the natural state of the item or material. Influenced by the poor agricultural society of the past, the Nordic people used to create resources in their hands, let things appear in a simple way, and add process technology and details. Rich forest resources provide a large amount of wood raw materials, so wood products and wood textures are common in Scandinavian designs. This cherish and recollection of the original form of the material has become the spiritual root of the Nordic minimalist design.

The rich human touch is another style of Nordic design. Katarina Ivarsson and Anna Karlsson are designed to embody the balance between human and nature, and to pay attention to the loyalty and interpretation of raw materials. The functional requirements are not only practical but also comfortable. With its humanized elegance, Nordic Home reminds users of the existence of “design” and the importance of “designer”.

The minimalist design work, Birdie Tea, adds some emotional and humorous elements beyond the form. What is minimally appealing to minimalism is an emotional element that evokes imagination and interest. As some furniture critics sum up: “Nordic furniture shows restraint in form and decoration, respect for traditional values, preference for natural materials, unity of form and function, and respect for manual quality.” The Nordic style influenced the later styles of “minimalism” and “postmodernism”.
