Winter weather is cold and feeds to keep warm

In the cold season, providing animals with appropriate cold-resistant feed can boost their metabolism, enhance physical health, improve disease resistance, reduce the impact of cold stress, and support better growth and development. Some commonly used cold-resistant feeds include: 1. **Distillers Grains** – This includes white distiller's grains and beer dregs. Rich in protein and minerals, they also contain a small amount of ethanol, giving them a warming effect, often referred to as "fire feed." They help improve digestion, stimulate blood circulation, dilate blood vessels, and create a warm sensation. Their use during winter is especially effective in reducing cold stress. Distillers grains are suitable for rabbits, pigs, and cattle, particularly for beef cattle finishing. Beer dregs are ideal for chickens, ducks, pigs, and cattle. However, they should not be given to pregnant animals or males due to potential negative effects on reproduction and male functions. 2. **Root Barks of Vegetables** – Certain vegetable roots, such as celery root, alfalfa root, spinach root, cabbage root, potato, and sweet potato, contain minerals that contribute to cold resistance. When used as feed, they help animals withstand low temperatures. It’s important to keep the outer skin intact when using these roots to maximize their benefits. 3. **Grains** – Soybeans are warm and sweet, making them a good source of vegetable protein and a warming feed. With 37.9% crude protein, they are both nutritious and beneficial for cold resistance. Black beans, containing 36.68% crude protein, are mild and sweet, and have a strong warming effect, making them an excellent choice for cold resistance. Barley is warm and salty, known for its good cooking properties. Rice and straw are also considered warm feeds, offering additional warmth during colder months. 4. **Meat-like Feed** – Mutton and dog meat are high in calories and serve as excellent warm and cold-resistant options for carnivorous and omnivorous animals in winter. Animal liver is rich in iron, which is crucial for animals that are more susceptible to cold when deficient. Feeding animals with some liver during winter helps replenish iron and improve cold tolerance. Freshwater prawns are warm and sweet, offering high caloric value and helping to strengthen the kidneys and yang energy. They are suitable for animals that tend to feel cold in winter. Salt-free shrimp can be used directly, while salted dried shrimp should be soaked in water before feeding.
