High-speed sintering process HSS produces thermoplastic parts for end use

HC Plastics News: high-speed large-size 3D printers and on-demand component service provider voxeljetAG announced the launch of the first high-speed sintering (HSS) process 3D printing system. Previously, voxeljet's 3D printers were primarily used in mold and patterning applications. Now with the latest HSS process, voxeljet will have the ability to directly produce end products and further enter the thermoplastics market.

The foundation of HSS is the same as the core technology of voxeljet, the binder spray technology. This new process primarily deposits a fine layer of polymer powder, such as PA12 or TPU, after which the inkjet printhead selectively deposits an infrared absorbing fluid onto the surface of the powder to be sintered. Liquids are no longer used during printing, minimizing the cost of consumption. The build area is then illuminated with infrared light, the liquid absorbs energy, and then melts and sinters (melts) the underlying powder. The entire process is repeated layer by layer to produce functional plastic parts.

According to reports, the new HSS process can print parts with selective laser sintering, multi-jet fusion or injection molding similar performance and quality. Users can produce versatile and full-featured prototypes such as brackets, housings and other features. Combined with superior surface quality, sharp edges and true detail resolution, parts printed with HSS technology can be used directly in functional applications in automotive, industrial equipment and even consumer products.

The CEO of voxeljet stated that the new high-speed sintering process provides customers with great flexibility through technology and parameters, and customers can tailor it to their specific needs. In addition, materials and new module printing software will provide customers with more customization options. Voxeljet's industrial printers deliver high-quality print resolutions, regardless of what is printed. Due to the large print width of the printhead, the print rate on large platforms will likely increase significantly in the future. This process is more efficient than other additive manufacturing processes.

Voxeljet will officially launch its high-speed sintering and VX2003D printers at Formnext in Frankfurt, Germany from November 14th to 18th.

Aluminum High-strength Thin Sheet is one type of Aluminum Sheet which has high strength but with the thin thickness. It is good in performance condition which requires high strength.Regularly when the thickness of the aluminum is reduced, the strength of the same is also reduced. The main difference is from a special heat treatment process which enables the Thin Aluminum Sheet with a high strength. So in the clients end,it is possible to use less aluminum material to produce the same product with same strength. The technology innovation is good for reducing the usage of the energy which also reduced the carbon oxidation. We hope to bring better future for our next generation.
