On May 29, Sichuan Honghua Petroleum Equipment Co., Ltd. took the lead in establishing the Sichuan Provincial Strategic Emerging Industry Oil Drilling Industry Alliance, bringing together over 40 domestic research institutions and enterprises, including Southwest Petroleum University, CNPC Chuanqing Drilling Co., Ltd., and PetroChina Southwest Oil and Gas Field Branch. The alliance focuses on advancing shale gas development and strengthening the oil and gas drilling industry in Sichuan.
The alliance's initial phase will center around equipment manufacturing, with plans to expand into providing drilling services in the future. Members will collaborate by sharing national research projects, major special initiatives, industry information, intellectual property, and policy updates. Additionally, project and product needs will be prioritized for alliance members, promoting internal cooperation and resource optimization.
In recent years, the demand for oil drilling equipment has surged. In 2012 alone, the national industry achieved a profit of 15.891 billion yuan, representing a year-on-year growth of 42.29%. With the increasing exploitation of shale gas, the market for oil drilling equipment is expected to grow even further. Through this collaborative effort, the alliance aims to boost overall sales value to between 30 billion and 50 billion yuan within three to five years. This initiative seeks to position Sichuan as a leading global hub for oil and gas drilling equipment manufacturing and service, enhancing its competitiveness on the international stage.
