Solutions like the HD autofocus systems using Texas Instruments' DM368, FPGA, and ASIC have gained prominence. FPGA solutions operate via hardware circuits, offering high stability and rapid autofocus speeds. The DM368 solution combines a hardware register implementation with a software system, delivering decent autofocus results, although speed and stability still require more testing. ASIC solutions rely on hardware circuits paired with basic software, ensuring high stability but limiting the development flexibility of the manufacturers, making it challenging to enhance autofocus effects and speeds. Core Algorithm - "Efficient Stream Control" Video coding technology has made remarkable progress over the years, from MPEG-1 (MP3, VCD) and MPEG-2 (DVD, SVCD) to MPEG-4. H.264, which evolved from MPEG-4 Part10, has become the dominant coding technology in today’s surveillance market due to its excellent image compression efficiency and quality. Recently, H.264 has continued to evolve. Starting with the Baseline Profile, which offered only I/P frames and progressive scan with CAVLC (Content-Adaptive Variable-Length Coding), the Main Profile now supports I/P/B frames, both progressive and interlaced scanning, along with multiple encoding methods such as CAVLC or CABAC (Content-Adaptive Binary Arithmetic Coding). Compared to CAVLC, CABAC can improve compression efficiency by at least 10-15%. At present, products based on the H.264 Main Profile can deliver compressed video at 3Mbps at 720P resolution and 6Mbps at 1080P resolution while maintaining image quality. H.264 compression coding technology will continue to evolve. It will soon be possible to implement High Profile compression coding capabilities in HD high-speed balls. High Profile will provide even higher compression efficiency and better image quality, along with highly lossless video coding to meet the demands of intelligent platform video analytics.
