What is a booster pump? A booster pump, as the name suggests, is a device designed to increase water pressure. It is commonly used in applications such as water heaters, high-rise buildings with low water pressure, saunas, bathrooms, and solar water heating systems that require automatic pressurization. The booster pump helps ensure consistent water flow and pressure throughout the system. When installing a booster pump, it must be placed either horizontally or vertically according to the installation instructions provided. The direction of water flow should match the arrow indicated on the pump body. It's best to install the pump as close as possible to the lowest water level for optimal performance. For easier maintenance and operation, a valve should be installed on the inlet line of the pump. If the suction level is below the impeller or the pump shaft, a check valve should be added. The outlet can be connected to a tee for water distribution. Before first use, the pump should be primed by filling it with water and ensuring all connections are properly sealed. All pipeline connections must be tight, especially the inlet pipe, as any leakage can reduce the pump’s lift capacity or affect its ability to draw water. Never run the pump without water inside, as this can damage the internal seals. The motor is equipped with a thermal protector that automatically cuts off power if the temperature rises above the safe limit. Once cooled, the motor will resume normal operation. The booster pump uses a capacitor-start motor. When shipped, the rotation direction is already set. If replacing the capacitor or re-wiring the motor, follow the arrow markings on the pump body. To ensure safety, always use a three-pin grounded socket. If you detect any leakage from the pump, shut it down immediately to prevent internal damage. If the leak is coming from the motor, replace the mechanical seal. Check if the power supply is on and confirm that the voltage matches the pump’s rated operating voltage. If the pump is not working properly, first verify that the power is on and the voltage is correct. If everything seems normal, remove the pump, open the cover, and clear any foreign objects inside before reassembling and tightening the cover. If the pump fails to draw water, check its installation on the water pipe. If the water level is below the impeller plane (for horizontal installations) or the centerline (for vertical installations), turn off the power. Wait until the water level rises above the impeller before restarting to avoid damaging internal components. When using the pump for well water, check for leaks in the intake pipe. If the pump chamber is dry, fill it with water. If the suction lift is too high, adjust it accordingly. Also, check if the inlet or outlet pipes are too narrow or clogged. Over time, automatic pumps may experience issues due to sediment buildup or rust in the pipes. To fix this, turn off the power, remove the switch, unscrew the top cover, clean the plastic sheet, and reset the system to restore normal operation.
